Eastpoint Now

Thursday, December 24, 2009

Last Sunday was one of the most memorable Sundays in the history of Eastpoint Family Church. Our Carols, Candles and Communion service was precious and God’s sweet presence was imminent. Our dinner following was such a wonderful time of fellowship. Our seniors enjoyed receiving beautifully wrapped gifts. Our children were lavished with toys from Toys for Tots.

This Sunday, I will be speaking on the “The Solitude of Jesus”. Referring to the scripture Luke 6:12-13 as follows:
“Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself, and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles.”

Come join us for service this Sunday.

December 31, we will have the church doors open for a prayer service at 2:00pm. Come and pray the New Year in!

Merry Christmas and Bonnie and I are praying the Lord will richly bless you during this holiday season and into the new year.

Christmas Treasures

Do you remember wanting that one gift that was absolutely necessary to have for Christmas? You wrote Santa Claus about it, you repeatedly told your parents of your desire to have such a treasured gift, and you may have even told your friends of your soon arriving gift. You would have done, or given, anything to have that gift within your hands on Christmas morning. To not have that gift within your possession on Christmas would almost certainly have meant complete disappointment. How could no one have heard you talk about that gift? You wrote to Santa, you told your parents, you even shared with your friends that it would be yours—and they were welcome to come over and play.

Believe it or not, God has a treasure that He greatly desires. He has let it be known that He wants this gift; He has written about it, He has told those around Him that He wants this gift, and He is willing to give up anything for this gift (and has). Do you know what this gift is? It is YOU!

All through the Bible, God has passionately sought after us—not just mankind in general, but as individuals. He is intent on having us with Him for all eternity. The angels in heaven know of His desire to spend eternity with us. In fact, on numerous occasions, God has sent them to us to deliver the important message concerning His love and longing for us. This message has also taken on the form of man, when Jesus Christ was born. God gave up a part of Himself for us. He, holy and perfect, left the glory of heaven to come to a filthy, dirty, evil world and live among us. Then, He allowed us to bind, beat, and murder Him. But, He did this so that we would learn from His teachings and receive eternal life from His death and resurrection—the power behind all that He has given us.

God desires you; even more than that, He treasures you. He wants nothing more than to spend time with you now, and in the future. Like a parent wanting to talk with a child, God wants to talk and spend time with you. He does this through the reading of His Word and through quiet time in prayer. The creator of the universe wants to spend time with you! What is the only thing that can inhibit this time? You. Don’t allow your wants to interfere with your relationship with God. He has paid an insurmountable price to spend time with you; recognize the value He has placed on you and let yourself be loved. One last thought—God has placed this value on every human being. Don’t believe me, check out John 3:16.

Remember to thank God for his ultimate Gift and have a Merry Christmas!

Christmas is a special time. Eastpoint is decorated and seasoned for a beautiful Christmas.

This Sunday, Pastor Claude's sermon is titled “Our Mighty God”.
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace”. Isaiah 9:6

December 20, we will be having Carols, Candles and Communion. This is always a special service.

God is answering prayer for many of our Eastpointers. We are hearing testimony after testimony of how God is providing, healing and restoring.

Come join us to celebrate Christ’s birth

Be sure to be with us this Sunday for our Annual Thanksgiving service and dinner.
A turkey will be given away to the first ten people who that arrive for our AM service.

Praise the Lord for joy in every circumstance! One of our Eastpointer’s is recovering from a double lung transplant. He is breathing with new lungs. God does heal through medical science. This Sunday, Pastor Claude will be honoring veterans. His sermon title this Sunday morning, is Veterans of Spiritual Warfare. The key verse is Ephesians 6:12. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Sunday evening we will be continuing in the “BE Attitudes”. Endurance-The Eight Step to Happiness. I don’t know about you but I do not like to endure anything that is uncomfortable. Normally, I have a hard time being happy about it. So I really need this sermon.

This Saturday, is our Ladies Prayer Breakfast. This is always a wonderful time of fellowship and sharing with each other.

Our Eastpoint church family pray, rejoice and cry together. There is great strength in resting in God’s love and being around His people.

See you at Eastpoint!

Part II “How to Find Joy in Your Relationships”
Philippians 2:3 “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself”

Last week’s sermon really hit home with me. So I can’t wait to hear this Sunday’s message.

Sunday Evening will be the Attitudes series: “Peacemaking-The Seventh Step to Happiness” Matt 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God”

Come be apart of a church that is growing in God.

This Sunday, Pastor’s sermon is “How to Really Enjoy Life”. How do you have joy in every situation?

Phillipians1:12, 13
“I want you to know, brethren that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ”

Come join us for both services Sunday. We love our church!!

What a wonderful two weekends at Eastpoint Family church. Our church services were wonderful.

Pastor and I were honored at our”40th Wedding celebration. Our church family and friends were there for this joyous occasion. Eastpoint ladies did a fantastic job with
decorating and catering.

Our first wedding was performed at Eastpoint Family Church last Saturday.
What a beautiful display of love was presented. Pastor Claude performed the ceremony and the marriage was sealed with God’s blessing.

We are going on our second honeymoon this weekend and Bro. Jerry Rice will be bringing the word forth.

We encourage our church family to take time off to rest and to be rejuvenated. So we are being an example to them by doing it ourselves this weekend. Pastor will be charged for next Sunday’s services.

We are excited about the up coming events for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Please come and be apart of our services.

Our second year anniversary celebration at Eastpoint was great!
We ended our service with communion and then we went and had a wonderful time of fellowship at Gates Barbeque and an afterglow on Sunday evening.

Pastor and I are so blessed to have a fabulous group of people who love us and the Lord. Kind words were spoken of us both and we are humbled to be servants for the kingdom of God.

Fourteen Eastpoint ladies went to the AG campgrounds for a ladies retreat.
We all were refreshed . We received two trophies for giving over a $1000.00 to the Treasue Chest( for missionaries) and giving to Convey of Hope $1001.00. I was so proud of our Ladies and our church.

Pastor and I will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary October 3.
I am so thankful for our love for each other. I guess we are starting to look alike too.

This Sunday, Pastor will preaching on worship. I am so excited to see what God is going to do in our services.

Come join us this Sunday and be apart of what is happening at Eastpoint.

What a beautiful mrning! Going to work with the sun rising was so refreshing. Thank God for His creation.

This weekend is Labor Day weekend. Come and join us in our AM and PM services.

Laboring can be tiring but the Lord can give us rest. Give back to God a day of thanksgiving by being in His house. You may say what do I have to thankful for? I have poor health, large debt, bad children, and a gloomy future.

God's word says He will be give us life and life everlasting. Come and hear what God will have to say to YOU.

I Didn't Catch That?

"What did you just say?” Have you ever caught yourself asking someone this question? It usually occurs after a misspoken word or remark, or a sarcastic comment in response to frustration with an individual. What did you feel when you asked someone that question? Our human emotions can range from offense of what we perceived was said to disbelief that such a comment was made. No matter what the outcome produced of the initial comment, either the speaker wasn’t cognitively pursuing an intelligent conversation, or they were being mean-spirited.

King Solomon tells us that, “A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.” (Proverbs 25:11). In other “words”, a well-chosen word is not only honorable, but extremely beautiful, precious, and valuable. In the first and third chapters of James we learn that one who doesn’t keep a tight rein on their tongue not only destroys and invalidates their testimony, they also will destroy themselves for all eternity. So, we now know the power of the spoken word. We can lift someone up with well-chosen speech or we can crush them under the heel of our verbal decay. It comes down to what we value more.

While in this same thought process, let’s look at how we talk with God. Do we come to Him looking for a handout, or do we come to Him bringing praise and adoration to His throne room? Do we pay attention to the words we speak during our time in prayer to Him or do we mumble our way through a prayer that we have said exactly the same for fifteen years? Do we make “deals” with God knowing that we will never keep our end of the bargain? Remember, you are conversing with the God that created all things (even the things we don’t even know about yet). Choose your words correctly. For a correctly spoken word is indicative of the state of your heart and mind. You really don’t want to hear God ask you, “What did you just pray?”

What a full and life changing two weeks Bonnie and I have had.

Our daughter and grandsons are now living in Independence and our lives are more active and full than ever.

God is a faithful God in all situations and in all life changing events. He has been proven over and over again of his sustaining power.

We have had exciting services at Eastpoint. New faces and great testimonies and God’s love.

This Saturday is our block party. We are so ready to reach our community.

Sunday my sermon is titled “Dry Bones”. I can’t wait to preach it. You have to come
and be apart of Eastpoint Family Church. We truly are a family wanting more people to come and share what God can do for you. There is room for YOU.

Our Sunday evenings have been so refreshing. Just resting God’s presence is something that can not be experienced just anywhere.

See you Sunday!!

“This is the day the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad in it”

Thursday, July 16, 2009

What a great day we had in the Lord last Sunday. A soul found Christ
and returned on Sunday evening. She was wanting to commit her life totally to Him.

This Sunday in the AM service, I will be sharing " To Love Like Christ" Wow what a challenge for all of us!

Sunday evening, in our evangelist service, our message will be "Passing through dark valleys." We have suffered through some dark valleys and
maybe you are now. Come experience God's presence.

Start reading Colossians 13:4 "Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud"

See you Sunday. Out of town guests are always welcome.

Eastpoint Family Church had a glorious Celebrate Freedom Sunday, July 5, with a pot luck dinner afterwards.
Our praise and worship team presented a beautiful Fourth of July drama and melody of songs.
Do you treat people in a way God would want you to?
Come Sunday for a sermon "Treating People Right" referring to James 2:1
"My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show favoritism". Do you treat your wife or husband like dirt but a neighbor like a queen or king?
Sunday evening, we will be continuing in our "Stressbuster Series "How to Deal with Indecision". Who doesn't deal with indecision? We all do!
God is our source for decision making.
Come and try our services. You will love God's people.

Have you ever judged someone real severely and then ended up doing the same offense? We all have , if we would admit it.

Come Sunday, my sermon is on Judging Others.

We do not live in condemnation but in libery and freedom in Christ Jesus.

I am excited about what God is going to do in all our lives.

This Sunday PM service we will be Pursuing Jesus. A time when we come and seek God's face. Last Sunday night, we had four souls come to the Lord. A gentleman came to the Lord that I have been praying for quite awhile.

Give God a Sunday with Him.

June 15
We had a glorious Service Sunday. Our praise and worship team ushered us in the presence of Jesus. God's Holy Spirit was manifested. God spoke to us that we are vessels that are empty and some vessels are cracked. Only God Himself can fill your vessel and fill the cracks with His love.

We continued our series on "Having Real Faith". A soul found Christ at our altars. Praise the Lord!

I reminded our congregation how 16 people had faith in God to start up Eastpoint Family Church. They stepped out in faith believing God was going to build a church and He is!!

Sunday PM we continues our series "Stressbusters". Reminding us to take time to relax and refresh ourselves. We shoud exchange our pressure for God's peace. Bonnie and I are trying to practice what I preach.

How can you have faith when you dont't believe God will help with temptation, stress, and discouragement?

Got some questions, we will preach the truth. If you know the truth, you will be set free!

Come this Father's Day Sunday and experience God's love and God's people who are just like you.

Pastor Claude

My sermon was about temptations and how we can yeld to them. And we can, can't we? Sunday PM, we started our sermon series "Stressbusters". Do you have stress, disappointment, and discouragement in your life?

God is continuing to do great things at Eastpoint Family Church. For three Sunday’s in a row we have had adults accept Christ as their savior at our altar! That’s the reason we exist, to see lives changed by the “Good News” the gospel of Jesus Christ. Sunday night we were blessed with special music by singer and song writer Randy Davenport.
We are going to have a blessed mother’s day this upcoming Sunday. There is special music being prepared and God has given me a wonderful and yet unusual Mothers Day message, you won’t want to miss it. Perhaps your mother doesn’t normally attend church. Ask her this Sunday to go to church with you and pray believing that God will intervene in her life and make Jesus Christ her Lord and savior. We would love to see you and your mother here at EPFC. We know that God’s Holy Spirit will be in our midst and God will touch our lives.

At EFC we desire to have an atmosphere where God’s Holy Spirit feels welcome and is therefore present in our services. We know that the Holy Spirit can do more for anyone in a split second than hours of preaching. We believe that because of God’s presence in our mist lives are changed and needs are met. It is common in our services that there is a message in “Tongues” followed by and “Interpretation”. This is in accordance to the Word of God. You can read about speaking in tongues in the book of Acts chapter two and in 1 Cor. 12:4-10 & verse 28. This past Sunday morning we continued our series “Living Life wisely”, Living In Godly Wisdom. The book of James chapter 3 verse 17 “The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.” We need that kind of wisdom in our lives today. James tells us that Godly wisdom is really a lifestyle. Five adults accepted Christ as Lord and Savior at the conclusion of my sermon. We then observed Holy Communion. My wife and I served the emblems to our congregation, after all a “pastor” according to God’s word in first and foremost a shepherd. Our Sunday night service was one where we “pursued” Christ. We had mentioned repeatedly from the pulpit that Sunday night's service would be a special prayer time. When you or me or a church sincerely asked God to show up HE will and last night was no exception. Many people experienced real spiritual breakthroughs. The Holy Spirit spoke to one of our people to have a “Jericho March” and we marched around our sanctuary seven times just as the children of Israel did in the Old Testament. Just as the walls of Jericho "came tumbling down” so did spiritual walls that many had in their own lives. We believe God is going to move in a mighty way at EFC. God not man is going to impact the Pittman road area and many souls are going to be saved and lives forever changed for Christ! Please come and join us Sunday mornings at 10:30AM and Sunday night at 6 PM. To God’s glory we are seeing numerical growth. Numbers are important to God, He named a book of the Bible “Numbers”. Please join us this Sunday. I guarantee you will since the love in God in our church and the love of the “Eastpointers".

April 20, 2009

Yesterday was a great time at Eastpoint Family Church! After a time of marvelous praise and worship, I had a three pronged altar call. I invited those who were without jobs, those underemployed and those having financial difficulties to come forward and be anointed with oil and be prayed for. God’s Holy Spirit came to confirm His presence. It was a powerful time and we believe we are going to hear great praise reports in the not too distant future.

My Sunday morning message was “Avoiding Arguments”. The key verse James 4:1 (MSG) “Where do you think all these appalling wars and quarrels come from? Do you think they just happen? Think again. They come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep inside yourselves.”
James chapter four gives us both the cause and cure for arguments. At the conclusion of my sermon many, many people responded for special prayer to help them “Avoid Arguments”.
Please join us this Sunday morning at 10:30AM, my sermon entitled Living In Godly Wisdom I’m sure God will speak to your heart because I always use God's Holy Word in my sermons. Our Sunday night 6Pm service, after a time of praise and worship, we will enter into “Pursing Jesus”. It promises to be a great time as we will be interceding before God for our own needs and others.
Please join with us. We look forward to seeing each of you this Sunday.
God bless you richly, Pastor Claude and Bonnie.

April 15, 2009

Easter Sunday was a near perfect Sunday as I have ever personally experienced. We had a great time of praise and worship, followed by an outstanding drama presentation.

The Lord had impressed upon me in the beginning of the week, how homes should be filled with peace. It is not normal for people to hit walls, argue all the time, and have continual combative relationships. God desires for our homes to be a peaceful haven. I made a plea for people to come forward for restoration of peace
to their homes. People came forward without hesitation. God did a glorius work.

At the conclusion of my Easter message, five beautiful adult souls responded to the altar call and asked Jesus Christ into their life to be their Lord and Saviour!

An Easter egg hunt followed our morning service for all the children in attendance.

God is moving in a mighty way here at Eastpoint. Please join us this Sunday morning at 10:30am as I continue my series "Living Life Wisely" part three. The sermon title is "Avoiding Arguments". We will continue our study of the book of Ruth in our 6:00pm evening service. We are gaining much insight into the book of Ruth.

See you this Sunday and you will be welcomed by people who love God and love you.

FROM THE PASTOR'S HEART APRIL 5, 2009

Eastpoint Family Church was the place to be on Sunday!

We were truly blessed with God's presence in both of our Sunday services. Our praise and worship team ushered us into God's presence in our morning service.

Our Super Kids Church had a special musical presentation "Give me that Old Time Religion."

Pastor continued his series "Living Life Wisely-How to Develop Patience". We learned we cannot always control our circumstances but we can always control the way we respond. Two souls responded to an altar call and asked Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Saviour.

In our 6pm service, our praise and worhsip team introduced new worship music. God's people praised and worshiped the Lord with freedom and liberty. We continued our study of the book of Ruth. Pastor's title was "Getting the Lucky Breaks." We learned that is no such thing as luck in the life of the Christian. It is God's favor that He bestows upon His children.

We are looking forward to a great Easter Celebration this Sunday morning. The title of Pastor's sermon is "Is the Napkin Still Folded?" At the conclusion of our Easter service, there will an Easter egg hunt for all childred present.

Eastpoint Family Church will be a wonderful place to be on Easter Sunday.

FROM THE PASTOR'S HEART MARCH 30 2009

Though snow kept us from having church Sunday morning, we had a great evening service.

We had a very good number in attendance and a marvelous time of praise and worship under the direction of our new praise and worship leader Heather Stukey.

We started the study of the Book of Ruth. We learned how to stop taking spiritual shortcuts and get off dead end roads. Our service closed with a wonderful refreshing time at our altars.

Palm Sunday April 5th, I will be continuing our series "Living Life Wisely". Hope to see you there.

From the Pastor's Heart

These last several weeks we have been examining how to have a God-centered 2009. To begin with, try not to look at 2009 as, “What can I accomplish this year?” But rather, “Who can I serve and minister to this year?” Jesus gave us this example in John 13:12-17. As He finished washing the feet of His disciples, He asked them if they understood what He had done for them. To truly grasp the concept Christ was teaching, imagine Jesus finished washing your feet and asked you the same thing. We are never to big, or important, to serve one another. The same truths of His earthly time are viable during our time. He lived this to the extreme when He hung on a rough, splintered cross with His life slowly draining from His flesh. It wasn’t for His salvation that He died and rose from the grave; it was for our salvation that He endured excruciating pain, shame, and separation from God, the Father. This is true servant hood; to lose your life for one who hates and despises you.

Further ways to have a happier new year include a belief in Jesus’ power to save and strengthen us. We must trust in Jesus to save us from our own sin and destruction—He is continually interceding for us to the Father. And during those times when we feel like we are going to be washed away by the onslaught of the world, overtaken by our sinful desires, or just plain tired of everything, Jesus is there to stand beside us and to keep us safe. Contemplate this! You’re standing on a small rock in the middle of the ocean and a 140 foot swell is rapidly coming toward you with the expressed intent of not just drowning you, but crushing you. Next to you is a calm and authoritative Jesus. With a simple phrase, “Peace, be still,” the wave freezes and collapses in on itself in response to the regal voice. That is the strength of Jesus!

Finally, if we abide by “The Four B’s”, we will have a happier new year. If we BELIEVE in Jesus Christ and repent of our sins, the Lord will be with us every step of the way (Joshua 1:9). If we BEHAVE in a way that exemplifies Jesus Christ, the glory of the Lord will be displayed—our actions speak louder than our words (remember Christ’s example at the beginning of this post). If we BEWARE of the deceptions of men (Colossians 2:8) and the snares of the devil (1 Peter 5:8), we will live longer, healthier lives and have an effective testimony to share with our family, friends, and neighbors. Lastly, if we realize and remember that we BELONG to Jesus Christ, we will live a happier and healthier eternity with Him. These “B’s” are the basis for a new beginning. But it starts with forgiveness of your sins. Take a look at the section on the right entitled, “A Life-Changing Prayer”. Go through this with a sincere heart and Jesus will forgive you of your sins and help you with the beginning of your new life. Still not convinced? Hold onto this earth-shaking truth, God gave up that which He most valued—His son Jesus Christ (a part of Himself). Jesus was perfect, eternal, and kingly; and now, is scarred, resurrected, and a brother to us. That is how much God values you as an individual. Now read that section on the right of this post and allow the Lord to be the center of your 2009.

From the Pastor's Heart

Another year is before us, and now is the time for the annual making of “New Year Resolutions”. Unfortunately, the rest of the year is usually dedicated to the breaking of those same resolutions. This past Sunday, we studied 10 New Year’s resolutions from the wisest man who ever lived (and “No”, not Jesus—He was both God and man). In Proverbs, chapter 3, Solomon gives 10 fundamental truths that will provide clarity for our unique life pathways. By listing them here (with additional commentary in parentheses), it is my desire for you to apply these to the many different decisions you may come across in your life’s pathway. In addition, the corresponding verses of chapter 31 will follow each resolution.

Res. 1: Let love and faithfulness never leave you (you will win favor in God’s eyes)-v. 3-4
Res. 2: Trust in the Lord with all your heart (place a firm and confident belief in God’s plan for your life)-v. 5-6
Res. 3: Do not be wise in your own eyes (instead, live dependently upon God)-v. 7-8
Res. 4: Honor the Lord with your wealth (God will see that your every need will be met)-v. 9-10
Res. 5: Do not despise the Lord’s discipline (He disciplines those He loves; it is a good thing)-v. 11-12
Res. 6: Search diligently for wisdom and find it (as we get older, we need more wisdom)-v. 13-24
Res. 7: Have no fear (remember, God is ALWAYS in control)-v. 25-26
Res. 8: Do not withhold good from those who deserve it (take care of your “business” [bills, utilities, etc.])-v. 27-28
Res. 9: Do not plot harm against your neighbor (don’t be a quarrelsome people; God does not like complainers or “pot-stirrers”)-v. 29-30
Res. 10: Do not envy a violent man or choose any of his ways (God will not share of Himself with individuals of this sort)-v. 31-32
(Verses 33-35 continue with more of the promises of God, if we stay true to these commands.)

To fully appreciate and follow these resolutions, we have to take one important step—we have to be adopted sons or daughters of God. This is accomplished by asking Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins and ask Him to be the Lord and Savior of your life. If you would like to experience life in a whole new way, now is the time. The beginning of the year is perfect for breaking free from the bondage that sin has placed upon you and resolving to live for God in the upcoming 50 weeks, and beyond. Turn your attention to the section on the right entitled, “A Life-Changing Prayer”. Go through it and sincerely resolve to live by its premise. A resolution of this magnitude now will result in an unimaginable hereafter.

Have a blessed week,
Pastor Claude
